The Gibson ES-335 has been a staple of the Gibson brand since the late 1950's and people have loved it ever since. With players of every style from blues to heavy metal picking up these guitars it should tell you just how cool and versatile this instrument is. This reimagined classic takes a vintage design and brings it up to the modern day with hardware that any guitar player can love.
2016 Upgrades
Visually there is not much difference between the 2015 and 2016 models but when you look a bit deeper you will notice that small changes that can make a big differerence. The main difference on this guitar is changing the neck pickup capacitor from .022mF to .016mF. This means that you get a bit of extra high end out of the neck pickup.
Other changes include small adjustments to the neck dimensions and the truss rod with the goal of creating a much stronger neck so you can gig without worrying about those small knocks.
Traditional Big Bodied Construction
Wanting to keep to the classic materials that made this guitar so popular in the first place Gibson have gone all out on this series to make it sound and feel fantastic. The Maple/Poplar/Maple combination of woods can be found not only on the top but also the back and sides. This wood choice gives you the best combination of structural integrity and great bright guitar tones.
New Neck Designs
While to body remains pretty much the same high quality workhorse design the neck has been completely revamped. With a redesigned slightly thicker neck this guitar feels great in the hands without being too chunky, and the binding has also been rolled to give you a smoother feel and transition between the side of the neck and the fretboard. Made out of the traditional combination of mahogany and rosewood you know this neck is going to sound and feel great.
The new low profile frets are not just there so you can get a lower action but it also helps give you a smoother feel and more accurate intonation so you will never be caught out of key. The final change for the neck in 2015 is the use of a bone nut which is extremely strong and means that your guitar tunes in a much smoother motion meaning less time to get set up.
Top Grade Vintage Style Hardware
Not vintage spec'd but vintage inspired hardware is all over this guitar. Everything has been chosen to not take anything away from the classic vintage tones that made this style of guitar possible but add in something for the modern guitarist on top They get this sound with the Burstbucker 1&2 pickups that sound great for a wide range of sounds. Based on the original PAF pickups the Burstbuckers have a beautiful singing quality that will cut through whatever mix you through at it.
