Gustave Bernadel was a famous French violin maker who invented his own resin for violin, viola and cello in the early 1900s. The recipe was then passed on to the Français family, who shared the recipe with Savarez. Savarez is committed to using the same raw materials and the same manufacturing process to maintain the exceptionally high quality that genuine Colophane Bernardel resin must have. Gustave Bernardel resins are thus still handmade from natural resin from selected high-quality pine trees with “galipot” (the first sap in the tree).
