It looks, sounds and feels like a calfskin but is a modern Evans skin with Level 360 technology!
In 1956, when Evans made the first synthetic drumhead, drummers were offered a sturdy skin that held tuning and was durable, but it didn't sound like calfskin.
However, the round and rich sound ideal of calfskin has lived on and with modern technology, new films and Level 360, Evans presents Calftone which offers the warm familiar calfskin sound combined with quality and durability.
The hide is basically 12 mil thick and can be used as both impact and resonance hide.
Calftone is offered in 3 variants; fully undamped standard Calftone, Calftone EQ4 with internal damping and an EMAD variant.
