The Swede MK3 can look completely untouched in its new design, that's a good sign! Namely, Hagstrom's design team has placed great emphasis on improving the instrument without removing any of its unique character. The body is made of mahogany and has been fitted with a maple top that has been gilded with a 2mm thick maple veneer where the grain is highly graded.. To get absolutely everything out of the classic Swede model, Hagstrom contacted Lundgren Pickups who had their say. The result was Lundgren Pickups AlNiCo No2 in both the neck and bridge positions. These AlNiCo2 Humbuckers are split-only and add additional tonal characteristics to this iconic model

As the Hagstrom team sought refinement rather than change, the new Nape-Tenon neck mount was developed. The slimmer design makes it easier to reach the very highest notes on the fingerboard. The new Hagstrom mechanism is of a lockable cut and helps hold the tune better.

The way guitars have been designed has looked the same for many years, this is something Hagstrom wants to change. They took a closer look at different ways to reinforce the critical point where the neck meets the head. This resulted in the Swede MK3 models having a volute reinforcement at the head to provide more firmness and stability.

It includes a robust case that can withstand both the hard tours as well as the shipping home from the rehearsal room late on a Thursday night.
