The KSM141/SL Stereo from Shure is a switchable polar pattern, condenser studio microphone pair designed for instrument recording and sound reinforcement. The microphone capsule is switchable between a true omni-directional and a cardioid pattern using a rotating collar. The omni-directional pattern offers a greater pick up area, while cardioid offers attenuation of noise and ambiance at the off-axis sections of the microphones.
The microphones offer a wide frequency response, making them a flexible solution for a variety of applications. Each microphone element features a permanently biased transducer design, resulting in clean, accurate signal reproduction and frequency response. The transformerless Class-A output circuitry provides a noise free output signal path while maintaining high gain levels.
A three-position low frequency roll-off switch eliminates low frequency rumble noise and counteracts any proximity effect. The microphones handle high sound pressure levels and feature a three-position pad that provides attenuation at 0, 15 and 25dB. Their low self-noise and extended frequency response make them ideal for recording musical instruments and the pair is additionally suitable for ensemble or overhead mic'ing applications.
